During 2015, Dale Thomson, the Tourism Projects Officer, has been involved in implementing a project called ‘Discover Your Own Backyard’. This project is to help educate visitors and locals to discover what events and places there are in Greater Shepparton.

Greater Shepparton covers Shepparton, Kialla, Mooroopna, Bunbartha, Murchison, Dookie, Tatura and Merrigum. ‘Discover Your Own Backyard’ is to discover our local food, wine, farmgate, flora, fauna, historic buildings, cultural events, art, museums, workshops, factory outlets and major retail stores. Some of the locations that are featured include Tallis Wine, Longleat Wines, Tatura Hot Bread, The Last Straw, Bunbartha Beef & Fine Produce, Chocolate Apple Factory, Dookie Emporium, SAM and much, much more.

We have been told that there will be videos of these different genres in Greater Shepparton for tourism purposes, which will be presented via Television, Youtube and Facebook. They will be showing a snapshot of Greater Shepparton and its events and places that you may not have known about!

Different videos will be posted every 3-4 months, and they will be approximately 30 seconds to 3 minutes long, so be on the lookout for these advertisements.

For more information on this, please visit the website www.discovershepparton.com.au/pages/dyob/.

If you would like to contribute to this campaign, contact the Greater Shepparton Council by emailing council@shepparton.vic.gov.au or just come into the council to speak to someone about your ideas or queries about ‘Discover Your Own Backyard’ in the Greater Shepparton.
